If my dealings in the classic car culture have taught me anything, it’s that I’m not a very brave person. I must be downright finicky when it comes to car safety. When I see this, all I can think of is the scary driver ed videos that I watched in high school, and then consider the cars in those videos were veritable tanks. But really, what are the ropes doing? It’s like a sick joke. Lets play this out, what are the possible rolls these ropes could play? The only this rope does that a door does, is remind people to not hop out of a moving vehicle. But if you’re in such a compromised state of mind that this reminder is helpful, then all bets are pretty much off. If you go flying out of this thing, intentionally or otherwise, performing a radical jumping maneuver or just slumping over unconscious, this thing is only going to help trip or ensnare you.
And then I consider what this care was built for guest transport around the coastal destinations of the Mediterranean. But then agai,n it may be nice to easily egress from a vehicle tumbling off a cliff.
So which is it? Extremely unsafe or the very least safe vehicle configuration, ever? Is there a car design working harder at passenger murder than this?
